China in English: perception is an act of translation. We also use what we cannot understand.

Language is a map.  Every word represents a perspective.  Reading is nothing but a means to approximate locations.  Someone lost has merely lost perspective.  Sometimes this is due to a misunderstanding of language: that the concepts it embodies exist as absolutes rather than as references, as though one could eat the word bread.  Sometimes it results from not knowing what to look for: to the extent one becomes dependent on this system and it fails in any way to approximate its context, there is a chance this discrepancy will make itself apparent, in which case the set of references must be reinvented.  Two men were walking down the street.  "How are you?" said one to the other.  "I'm lost," the other one said.  "How do you know you're lost?" asked the first man.  "Lost, not lost, what's the difference?" questioned the second.  "If there is no difference, how would you know it?" returned the first.  "We can't have the same perspective," said the second.  "That means we're free."   The first man smiled.  "Thanks for the directions," he said, and went on his way.
